New Year, New Collection

Posted by Lucia Mondella on

Well, to say that 2020 was a rough year for most of us is an understatement. From uncertainty about the future to sheer anxiety, we've all dealt with a lot.

But the silver lining for a lot of us, is that we got to spend a lot of time at home with our loved ones (maybe even too much...) and we had time for things we usually don't have time to do.

With all in-person events cancelled, I had more time to dedicate to the logistics of my business. I revamped my website, I hired a professional photographer, I consciously devised a strategy from my Instagram feed and I created lots of new pieces.

Here are some of the pieces in my new jewelry collection that were conceived at the beginning of 2020 and were finally ready, after a long, convoluted and bumpy road, towards the end of 2020.

The Sydney Necklace

Inspired by the Sydney Opera House, this necklace is meant to be a statement piece in your jewelry collection. One of my goals for 2020 was to venture out of my comfort zone and to create bigger and bolder pieces, the opposite of what I normally do. So here is the Sydney Necklace with pointy edges and smooth surfaces.

The Gatsby Necklace and Earrings

The silhouette of the Gatsby necklace and earrings is inspired by the timeless motifs of the Art-Deco and accented by exquisite turquoise cabochons. It debuted right before Christmas and it's already a customers favorite. It sold out twice.

The Zig Zag Earrings

With these earrings I also tried to create something a little new and unique, adding a little bit of fun to my signature geometric shapes. I think these perfect to show your lobes on those long, Zoom calls.

The Moon Phases Necklace

"The moon is a feminine symbol, universally representing the rhythm of time as it embodies the cycle. The phases of the moon symbolize immortality and eternity." (Quoted from UMICH website)

The moon is a symbol often used in rituals and healing practices. I find it interesting that it holds a significant meaning in pretty much every culture and every part of the world. With the Moon Phases necklace I wanted to create something that can stand the test of time and appeal to a lot of people. Tiny crescent moons are nested in asymmetrical squares to create movement and dimension.
